– lemon
– orange
– icing sugar
– almond, rice or soy milk

– some place to roll your dough out
– zester
– heart-shaped cookies cutter
– fork
– baking paper
– frying pan
– wooden spoon
– measuring spoons
– measuring cups
– couple of mixing bowls
Directions
Step one
Making your pastry dough: (this makes roughly two dozen pies).
Recipe for Pastry Dough
– 2 ¼ cup white pastry flour
– 1 cup vegan margarine
– 1 teaspoon salt
– 1 tablespoon sugar
– 1/3 cup chilled water
Cut your margarine into cubes and freeze your margarine for one hour.
In a separate bowl, combine your dry ingredients:
2 ¼ cup of white pastry flour, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 tablespoon sugar, whisk.
‘Cut in’ your vegan margarine + flour mix with a fork or pastry cutter (‘cutting in’ means to combine together without getting the heat from your fingers into the margarine). You want to make sure your flour, margarine + tools are all cool when you do this process. This creates a flaky crust.
Step four
Once you’ve cut in the flour+ margarine, add 1/3 cup of cold chilled water to the mix and knead the dough slightly with your fork to incorporate the water.
On a clean surface, lay out your flour and roll your dough up into a big ball. Shrink wrap and throw it in the freezer for 30 minutes to an hour.
Make Cherry Pie Filling You can put any filling you like into these babies; just replace the cherries for your own ingredient!
Recipe for Cherry Pie Filling
– 4 ¼ cups of cherries (two cans)
– 1 cup sugar
– ½ teaspoon of orange zest
– 1 teaspoon almond extract
– ¼ cup corn starch
– 1/4 cup water
Throw ingredients on frying pan on medium heat.
When you get up to the corn-starch dissolve it with that little bit of water and then put it in so there’s no clumps.
When it thickens up, take it off the heat and let it cool!
Step seven
Take dough out of freezer and begin to flatten out with a rolling pin until it’s thin and flat.
Cut out an even amount of heart shapes.
Take one heart and place 1 teaspoon of cherry pie filling in the center.
Dip your finger in water and trace it around the inner lining of the heart.
Then, take another heart and place on top.
Pinch around the sides so that the two pastries become one.
Place the pies on baking paper and then, with a fork, press little markings all along the sides of the hearts so that they’re definitely stuck together.
Step ten
Deep-fry your pies!
Fill up your frying pan with about an inch of coconut oil, sunflower or canola oil.
When your oil is ready to fry lovingly place your little pies in the hot burning oil.
When they brown, flip them over and do the other side.
Take them out, and let them cool.
Donut Glaze Time!!
Recipe for Donut Glaze:
– 2 cups icing sugar
– 4 tablespoons of your choice of vegan milk
– 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
– Stir it up real nice.
Pour it over the pies! The glaze will crust up and you can now eat it!!
Eat your cherry pie and have it with your favorite vegan ice cream while watching The Legend of Billie Jean! Best movie ever! Enjoi!
